Lower Masimbani Community in Kibwezi, Makueni County

The project was developed by the Kasser Joint Institute which is a collaboration between the University of Arizona, Arava Research Institute, and AICAT (Arava International Center for Agriculture Training). The implementation partner for the project is Kedar GAP Group.

The project aimed to do an Agri-Voltaic research station and also bring food, water, and solar energy to the community in the area.

As part of the project, the local school has benefited from solar energy with batteries that supply electricity to the classrooms, as well as a water tower with a hand washing basin for the use of the children next to the toilets.

The water source is the river and all pumps and motors for the project are solar-operated.
